Songs of Thanksgiving

What Thanksgiving traditions are your favorites? Seeing family and friends? The meal? The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Watching football?

You probably don’t immediately think of the SONGS as a favorite tradition. Maybe the only Thanksgiving song you know is “Over the River and Through the Woods.” However, many songs about gratitude and giving thanks are out there, and music therapists use many of them not only in November but throughout the year.

The documents below give a couple of examples of how gratitude songs can be personalized to express what YOU are thankful for this November. Open one or both files and use the instructions on the second page of the document to fill in the blanks, creating your very own version of one of these songs of Thanksgiving. When you’ve written your lyrics, play the attached audio file to sing along to your song with one of our music therapists!

Love what you created? Share it with us!

Then check out this list of more gratitude songs to continue celebrating what you are thankful for!

We’ve got a lot to be
