Enriching lives through participation in music
As one of our therapists was preparing for a recent singalong for an adapted choir, she realized the date would be 7/11! When planning any kind of session in the summer, it’s easy to fall back on typical themes like sun/heat, vacation, beach, water, and summer foods. But this therapist thought it might be fun to do one about the all-important gas station! She shares her thoughts about this theme below.
Gas prices are so high that you might not want to think about it, but gas stations were an iconic part of my youth. We’d get slushies/slurpees, snacks, and eventually out-of-state lotto tickets (the most lucky type). Sometimes it was a crucial way to get motor oil, a map, or directions (pre-GPS). In honor of this American staple, I brainstormed some song ideas for your next gas-station tribute session! There are so many more without even dipping into the songs about cars!
