A Note from West Music Presidents: Celebrating 30 Years of Music Therapy Services at West Music!

From the beginning, West Music has been dedicated to harnessing the benefits of music to enrich lives, and our music therapy program is at the heart of this commitment.
Music has always been recognized as a powerful holistic means for healing and well-being. Music therapy is a discipline that merges the transformative power of music with therapeutic techniques to address a wide range of physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs. It requires not only musical proficiency, but also an empathetic understanding of individuals' unique challenges and circumstances.
In 1994 the music therapy program at West Music was established with one music therapist and a vision to promote and utilize the therapeutic value of music to improve the lives of diverse populations. West Music was proud to offer this innovative program when no other music retailers did, and over the years the program has earned a positive reputation as a leading provider of music therapy services in Iowa and western Illinois.
Music Therapy Services of West Music has grown to ten full-time therapists and has expanded to serve various settings such as schools, hospitals, group homes, day centers, nursing care facilities, cancer treatment facilities, and hospices where they touch the lives of individuals of all ages and abilities. West Music's success in the field of music therapy can be attributed to our commitment to hire highly- skilled board-certified music therapists who design individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each person with whom they work.
In 2024 we celebrate our music therapy department’s 30th anniversary and the indelible imprint that our music therapists have made in the communities we serve. Three decades of continuous service is a significant milestone and it speaks volumes about the team's unwavering commitment to enrich lives through participation in music.
