American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)

Certification Board for Music Therapists
“The purpose of board certification in music therapy is to provide an objective national standard that can be used as a measure of professionalism by interested agencies, groups, and individuals. The CBMT Recertification Program is designed to provide certificants with guidelines to assist them in remaining competent with current practice and further enhancing their knowledge in the profession of music therapy.” Information about certification and recertification can be found on the CBMT website.
Iowa Chapter of Music Therapy
“The purpose of the ICMT is to further the advancement of training and educating music therapists in and around the state, and to provide a forum for networking.” Membership costs only $15 for the year; see the website for information about joining.
World Federation of Music Therapy
“WFMT seeks to bring the opportunity to practice music therapy and the benefits of music therapy interventions to people throughout the world. The Federation supports the global development of educational programs, clinical practice, and research to demonstrate the contributions of music therapy to humanity.”
WFMT will be hosting the 15th World Congress of Music Therapy from July 4-July 8, 2017 in Tsukuba, Japan.
