A Letter from our President

In fulfilling our mission statement, “To Enrich People’s Lives Through Participation In Music”, we dedicate ourselves to the belief that all lives can be enhanced through the active involvement and participation in music! Music Therapy is a health-care discipline that uses music to address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. The methods used in music therapy improve the quality of life for persons who are well and meet the needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses. Music Therapy interventions can be designed to promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, improve communication, and promote physical rehabilitation.

West Music established its Music Therapy program in 1994 and serves a variety of populations throughout central Iowa, eastern Iowa and western Illinois, providing services personalized to the unique needs of our clients. During this time, we’ve earned our stellar reputation by providing exceptional music therapy services across the region as well as offering a vast selection of quality products for music therapists worldwide.

Our team of board-certified music therapists lead music therapy in groups and one-on-one settings. By adopting a process instead of a product philosophy, their focus becomes more involved in creating, moving and listening to music rather than the product of learning music for performance. In addition, we have an active adaptive lessons program, as well as several recreational choirs. Our website is designed to help you in your search for music therapy information, products and services. We hope you find this resource to be a useful and informative tool.
